The upcoming Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG) V8 update represents a significant advancement in Decentralized AI, building on the achievements of previous innovations brought by V6. The DKG V6 materialized knowledge as a new asset class, with its core AI-ready Knowledge Assets setting the stage for advanced AI applications in the domains of real-world assets (RWAs), decentralized science (DeSci), industry 4.0, and more.

Moving forward, DKG V8 introduces autonomous DKG growth, support for Initial Paranet Offerings (IPOs), and also significantly increases scalability. With this, the Decentralized Retrieval Augmented Generation (dRAG) becomes a foundational framework instilled in the DKG V8, significantly advancing a spectrum of large language model (LLM) applications.

DKG V8 is tailored to drive the next generation of AI through multi-modal content, which is crucial for a diversified and robust AI ecosystem. The integration of dRAG and other decentralized AI functionalities allows for a more verifiable and secure application of AI technologies, addressing challenges such as misinformation, data bias, and model collapse.

The present roadmap update focuses on DKG V8 catalysts designed to bootstrap and accelerate these advancements, including enhanced knowledge mining processes, integration across multiple blockchain ecosystems, and scalability improvements aimed at supporting an expansive growth of knowledge assets. These initiatives ensure that DKG V8 not only extends its foundational network effects but also reinforces its position as a cornerstone of future AI developments.

DKG V8 — Decentralized Retrieval Augmented Generation at scale

The truth, however, is an elusive concept, especially if attempted to be captured by a single organization/product. A better approach is through connectivity and transparency achieved by leveraging multiple open-source technologies. Turing Award winner Dr. Bob Metcalfe explained this idea, saying,

“… through connectivity, decentralized knowledge graphs, blockchains and AI are converging — and it’s an important convergence, because it is going to help us with one of the biggest problems we have nowadays, which is the truth.”

Inspired by Turing award winner Dr Bob Metcalfe and his pioneering work, including “Metcalfe’s Law” and the creation of the first computer network, the OriginTrail Metcalfe phase aims to leverage network effects through building a web of verifiable Knowledge Assets for decentralized AI.

The Genesis period of the Metcalfe phase bootstraps the growth of the AI-native V8 Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG V8), driving the verifiability of AI via Decentralized Retrieval Augmented Generation (dRAG). Supported by a unique knowledge mining system through the NeuroWeb blockchain, the Genesis period is followed by a “Convergence” period, which further leverages network effects via autonomous knowledge inferencing. The DKG V8 aims to offer a user-centric, trusted knowledge foundation with decentralized AI functionalities, enabling individuals and organizations to participate in a knowledge economy based on neutrality, inclusiveness, and usability — the core principles of the OriginTrail ecosystem.

The Genesis period leverages connectivity to achieve network effects across the multi-chain OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph to reach a growth target of 1B Knowledge Assets. With the introduction of the community-driven NeuroWeb blockchain supporting DKG growth, Genesis bootstraps the OriginTrail AI-Native version 8 for Decentralized Retrieval Augmented Generation (dRAG), introduced to drive a multi-modal ecosystem of AI solutions. This whitepaper presents a vision for the future of Artificial Intelligence through the concept of a Verifiable Internet for AI, leveraging synergies of crypto, internet, and AI technologies. It introduces the Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG) and Decentralized Retrieval Augmented Generation (dRAG) approach to ensure the provenance, integrity, and verifiability of information utilized by AI. It aims to address the challenges posed by misinformation, data ownership, and bias inherent in AI, by synergizing neural and symbolic AI approaches with Web3 technologies.

The founding population of Terminus consisted of 100,000 especially healthy scientists, whose ostensible purpose was to publish an Encyclopedia Galactica in order to preserve science and technology. The lack of natural resources forced Terminians to develop extremely high-efficiency tech, as their knowledge due to their position as the inheritors of the Imperial Library allowed them to do so.
